A Community Garden at High Rock

Oct 16, 2026

When the archeology dig boxes were no longer being used at High Rock Middle School, Steve Miller, the former community service learning coordinator, applied for an NEF grant to build five new accessible raised garden beds which would be used for students in a newly formed Environmental Club to grow herbs and vegetables. All produce would then be donated to the residents of the Linden Street Needham Housing Authority located across the street from the school.

Needham Local met up with the inaugural Environment Club to learn how this project grew. Read more in their article Something is Growing at High Rock.
