Bridge Building in the Classroom
This grant supported the school district’s goal of
incorporating technology and engineering in the classroom.
Previously, students were taught the engineering of
bridge building with Popsicle sticks, but since students used to build
only one bridge, there were limits to what they could learn.
With this grant, Pollard Middle School’s sixth
grade science team purchased reusable kits, which allowed students to
build seven different bridge prototypes and five-foot and six-foot
replicas of real-world bridges.
