“Lesley @ Hillside Collaborative Internship Program”

Funding: $15,000
This is a grant awarded to the Hillside School to begin a partnership with Lesley University to create an internship program bringing 5 graduate students who are enrolled in Lesley’s Accelerated Teacher Certification Program into the Hillside School for the 2007-2008 school year. Lesley University currently is partnered with several other school programs, Buckingham Brown & Nichols, The Shady Hill School, and the Brookline Public Schools. Hillside would become Lesley’s first suburban public site for the program. This internship program has the added potential of bringing a diverse group of teachers into the Hillside school. Additionally, Hillside teachers will have a unique opportunity for professional development through teaching and mentoring these interns.

“Art for All and All for Art - Public Art for Needham High School”

Funding: $15,000
This is a grant awarded to continue the multi-year initiative to support the newly selected artist-in-residence, Joy Wulke, working on the public art installation in the lobby of the new high school building. The grant outlines plans to introduce a new course at Needham High School called, “Public Art” beginning in the fall of 2007. “Art for All” received an Autumn 2005 ($3,500) NEF grant, $8,000 from the NHS PTC as well as two years of funding ($16M total) through the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
